Icon with the Savior "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" – embroidered, framed, 21x27cm
For the faithful, Christ is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life." He is the Way on which we never stray. He is the Truth that sets us free, cleansing every corner of our minds from doubts and darkness, a mind that often seeks the infinite in finite things. He is the Life that sprouts within us every time we pray with an open heart.
In the turmoil of our days, humanity has drifted further and further away from God and His word. Many of us have forgotten that He Himself gave us life and created us in His image and likeness. We have become increasingly selfish and have begun to guide ourselves by our own opinions, rather than by the teachings of the Lord. Money and power seem to have completely changed our perception of the world, giving us the illusion that we possess the truth and supremacy, that we are indestructible and eternal. We have forgotten our own fragility and lost our innocence.
Without Christ, man falls, diminishes, and decays into a life devoid of meaning, living in illusions, lies, and spiritual decline, a truth described in the pages of the Book of Job: "His light becomes dark, and the candle's flame vanishes in his tent" (Job 18:5-6).
People need more and more Light, a return to our essence and to the authentic Christian values that have guided us for over 2000 years.
From the teaching "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life," we can thus understand through faith and humility, we can receive the power to love and help the afflicted, to keep the imprint of Divinity alive in our souls, and thus succeed in overcoming all the challenges of our ephemeral earthly existence.
